An Irishman Abroad

Tanya O’Callaghan: Episode 317

October 12, 2019

Tanya O'Callaghan assumed her life was going down a path towards working with animals until she discovered the bass at 17 years old. Her inspiring level of determination and devotion to music changed her life and it is the main reason she is so respected in the industry today.

Originally from Mullingar, she now works out of Los Angeles. Her gruelling schedule of touring and recording with some of the world's top acts is head spinning in its intensity. This week she joined Jarlath to reflect on her journey. Tanya explains the personality type that it takes to make it as a professional musician, the incredible work she put in to making it in America and her thoughts on toxic masculinity in the music business.

To hear Tanya's discussion on living in modern America, why she believes Hozier is Ireland's Jeff Buckley, how she handles homesickness and her work as an activist, become a Patron of An Irishman Abroad on
