This week Scottish National Party MP Tommy Sheppard met Jarlath at the House of Commons in London. Originally from Coleraine, he shares his fascinating story of being raised protestant in Northern Ireland during the troubles and explains how the lack of freedom of expression motivated him to leave. Tommy discusses how his desire to follow a career in politics caused him to drop out of studying medicine in Aberdeen and how he dealt with his defeat in the 1992 elections. We also hear how he went from watching the birth of alternative standup comedy in Britain in the 1980s to owning and running some of the most celebrated comedy clubs in the world.
Tommy details the ruthless nature of the New Labour Blair machine and how they effectively paid him to go away. From Frankie Boyle's similarities to Kevin Bridges to the scare tactics used to hinder the campaign for Scottish independence to the surprising admission that most of the Tories are actually "good guys", it's an interview you don't want to miss.
