Monday Nov 10, 2014
Just three months ago Pat Shortt was acting alongside Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway and in this week's episode he joined Jarlath live on stage at the Cork Opera House during the Cork Film Festival to discuss the fascinating journey of what has seen him become one of Ireland's comedy legends as well as one of the country's most prolific actors.
Pat tells the story of how he ended up being unable to even book a gig in Dublin while at the same time selling out theatre venues across America and touring around Europe, Africa and Russia in the nineties as part of D'Unbelievables. He also explains his transition to taking serious acting roles which has given him an international name as an actor staring in films such as The Garage, Calvary, The Guard and most recently, Queen and Country as well as West End and Broadway stints with The Cripple of Inishmaan.
Pat opens up about suffering stage fright, becoming part of the 'Broadway family', the process of understanding the physicality of a character as well as discussing how his work ethic and determination has shaped his career.
